Think of how perfect the opening to Richard Donner's 1978 movie Superman is. The fact that Green Lantern is not as well know as other superheroes is no excuse either. Whenever you see this in a movie its a bad sign. This movie opens with a little speech from Tomar-Re, explaining what Green Lanterns are and giving back story for the events leading up to the start of the story. This is a movie I actively want to enjoy, but the reasons below keep me from doing so #1 Opening Narration You may be familiar with the old adage of screen writing: show, dont tell. My goal is not to simply make fun of the movie its to further investigate and better understand what went wrong. My criticisms come from a place of love I am hard on this movie because I recognize how great it could have been, not because I hate Green Lantern or think superheroes are silly. It leaves one to wonder, why does the cartoon succeed where the movie failed? As a long time Green Lantern fan, I had high hopes for the movie and went in hoping for the best. This past weekend saw the premiere of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, a computer animated cartoon show that was surprisingly enjoyable and avoided a lot of the problems the film fell into. In the conversation about this year's superhero movies, Green Lantern has all but disappeared. ![]() While there are those who may have enjoyed the experience, its clear that the movie did not make the splash that Iron Man, The Dark Knight had made in recent years or even Captain America or Thor made this summer. ![]() ![]() If there was one thing that critics and comic book fans agreed on this summer it was that Green Lantern was one big let down.

It’s simple to do online, but how many of us would even take that step? Both attorneys also suggested a watermark on any photos you don’t want stolen. “But in order to enforce that right, (you) must register with the copyright office.” “You have an ownership right just by the creation of the work,” pointed out Nicole Morris, who was also the former managing patent counsel at Coca-Cola. “But it would be really difficult to bring a lawsuit.”Īccording to Holbrook, most of the time the legal costs just aren’t worth it. ![]() ![]() “In theory, whoever took the picture and copied it would be (in trouble),” said Tim Holbrook, vice provost at Emory Law. We asked two Emory University School of Law intellectual property experts what they thought. How can you protect a picture you post online? There are some simple ways. “We were letting them know you just can’t take someone’s stuff and use somebody’s stuff without their permission.” “Money was not what we’re after,” said Nelson. They reached out to as many of the sites as possible, but say they got no direct response. “The whole hot thing now is fake news, that you would completely make up a story and share it without fact-checking it at all,” Nelson complained. Another Patriots fan site reported they were pretty sure the picture showed Cam coming out of a pizza joint close to the stadium.ĮSPN even aired the photos, the network giving a photo credit to that Boston Sports Mike twitter user and another man Jason and Ashley say they’ve never heard of.įor the Newnan couple, one a teacher and the other a tree surgeon who rarely dabble in the world of social media, the experience was eye-opening. “It kind of goes back to how easy something that you post can be viral in hours and you not even really have any knowledge of it,” Castles said. Some Patriots fans even suggested this was their new QB coming out of a pizza joint near the Pats stadium. The RaceTrac is on Bullsboro Drive in Newnan. “I was like no, they were actually taken on Bullsboro.” “Everyone was saying the pictures were taken in Foxborough,” remarked Castles. He got nearly 4000 retweets and more than 12,000 likes. “Cam Newton has arrived in Foxborough, Massachusetts just 2 half hours ago before he makes the official contract signing to be a member of the New England Patriots,” the caption read.Ī Twitter user named Boston Sports Mike also posted the pictures on July 3, again announcing Cam Newton had arrived in Foxborough. Not many Auburn fans on his friends list.ĭespite the lack of buzz on his page, the next week those two pictures somehow appeared on a Patriots fan page with a completely different narrative: We should tell you Castles is a Bulldog and Falcons fan. Unfortunately, it is impossible for the network to distinguish a ragequit from actual technical problems (a power outage, for example), and there are usually still ways for players to exploit the ranking system to avoid taking the loss. Some games will register a rage quit as an automatic loss to the player who quit (possibly with an automatic win for everyone else), or even keep a separate tally for the number of "disconnects". Measures to alleviate this vary, as documented at Anti-Rage Quitting. Rage-quitting may result in a Non-Standard Game Over scene. ![]() As vengeance, the player abandons their team at the worst possible moment. Rather, it's punishment for allies of the player who are in some way abusing game mechanics or items to make the player's experience miserable. In some very rare instances, the rage quit may not in fact be due to the player sucking or getting frustrated. Of course, quitting is still quitting, which greatly annoys other players who want to finish the game or earn the win. Rage quitting is also common in people who simply get frustrated at the game and quit early to cool off, whether it be from several streaks of bad luck or results in a game simply not working out in their favor, despite everything they've been doing. In any case, if they can't have it, then no one will!Īs you can well imagine, this is obviously incredibly annoying to the opponents players who ragequit too often tend to look weak, and it pisses off other players who often just want to get through a game without the other guy backing out on them at the last minute because they don't want to get stuck with a loss. If they had a winning streak or an undefeated season, it's about to end now.Įnter the Rage Quit: If they can't win this game, no one can! Alternately, it need not even be an actual loss or a bad game some players have rage quit over the most trivial of matters, such as their favorite map not being selected, or their favorite character being used by someone else. Whatever the reason, their armies are dying, their buildings are burning, their avatar has been sliced into six different pieces, and they are about to get this loss added to their permanent gaming record. Even the whims of the Random Number God could be uncooperative. Maybe they didn't read up on how to effectively play the game, maybe they're off their A-game, maybe it's their teammates, or perhaps the other guy just found a way to break their supposedly impenetrable defense.
